Itinerary

Day 1Fes ⇨ Ifrane ⇨ Azrou ⇨ Midelt ⇨ Errachidia ⇨ Ziz Valley ⇨ Erfoud ⇨ Merzouga

After breakfast, we head to Midelt, traveling through the mountains and cedar forests of the Middle Atlas. We pass by Ifrane, a pretty ski resort, and Azrou, a town known for its cedar wood crafts. After crossing the Zad pass (2,178m), we reach Midelt for lunch. In the afternoon, we drive to Erfoud, passing through Errachidia and the Ziz Valley. From there, we continue to the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi for a desert tour. We have dinner and stay overnight at a hotel in Merzouga.

Day 2Merzouga ⇨ Erg Chebbi ⇨ Camel Trekking ⇨ Night in Desert Camp Sahara

After breakfast, we’ll take a big loop around the dunes, passing through the oases of Merzouga, the village of Khamlia (home to the Gnaoua people), the Mifiss mines, and the desert plains where we’ll meet Berber nomads. We’ll also visit the Tissardmine oasis before heading back to the hotel. From there, you’ll begin your camel ride, enjoying the sunset as we head to our Berber tents in the middle of the dunes. Dinner and overnight stay in a desert tent.

Day 3Merzouga ⇨ Rissani ⇨ Erfoud ⇨ Boumalne ⇨ Dades Valley ⇨ Dades Gorges

We wake up early in the morning to watch the sunrise, then return to the hotel by camel. After breakfast, we head to Rissani and Erfoud to visit the marble fossil plant. We continue on to the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad, and then arrive at the Toudra Gorges for lunch. In the afternoon, we drive to the Dades Gorges, passing through Boumalne and the Dades Valley. We’ll have dinner and spend the night at a hotel.

Day 4Dades Gorges ⇨ Dades Valley ⇨ Roses Valley ⇨ Kelaa M'gouna ⇨ Ouarzazate

After breakfast, we head back through the Dades Valley to the Kasbah of Ait Youl. We’ll pass through the Rose Valley, known for its kasbahs and ksours, and enjoy the beautiful landscapes before reaching Kalla Mgouna. We’ll have lunch there, then in the afternoon, we depart for the palm groves of Skoura, where we’ll visit the Kasbah of Amredhyle. Afterward, we’ll have dinner and spend the night at a hotel.

Day 5Ouarzazate ⇨ Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou ⇨ Marrakech

After breakfast, we visit Ouarzazate, exploring the Kasbah of Taourirt, Tifoultout, and the cinema studio. Then, we drive to the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, which is protected by UNESCO. We’ll visit the kasbah and the old village before heading to Marrakech in the afternoon, passing through the Tizi N’Tichka pass. We’ll arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon or evening, drop you off at your hotel, and that will mark the end of our 5-day/4-night Fes to Marrakech desert tour.

Should I book pre/post tour accommodation?
