2 days from Ouarzazate to Erg Chebbi Dunes; Sahara adventure tour by comfortable 4×4 with a great road trip that passes thru Anti Atlas Mountains, the beautiful Draa Valley, Berbervillages (Zagora, Tamegroute…) including the UNESCO WorldHeritage of Ait Benhaddou, the wonderful Sahara desert dunes; overnight in your comfortable desert camp, taste real moroccan food, hear moroccan music with the locals campfire and see the breathtaking sunset and sunrise on the Sahara desert dunes. An ideal tour mixing Sahara exploration and cultural discoveries.
Leave Ouarzazate in comfortable 4WD through a fascinating ride over the anti Atlas Mountains to get to Agdz and lush green draa valley where we can see plantations of palm trees, kasbahs and Berber villages. Carry on to Zagora with a short visit to the town, Tamegroute with its pottery factories, an old village and an ancient library with antique books that have survived since the 13th century. From here we continue to dunes of Erg Chigaga; you leave the bitumen roads behind you get to your Berber desert camp and experience a Moroccan traditional meal, Berber tunes and music round the campfire while spending an unforgettable night under the stars.
Wake early and watch the sun rising over the dunes, then have breakfast in the camp. You’ll then drive over the large salt plain, which is what is left of the dried lake of Iriki, on your way to Foum Zguid and the Berber town of Taznakht, the center of handmade rugs in Morocco, where you’ll have lunch. In the afternoon, you’ll visit the UNESCO protected ksar (village fort) of Ait Benhaddou, one of the best-known in the country, featured in a number of films such as Gladiator. Afterwards, drive back to Ouarzazate.
This tour is operated exclusively in a comfortable, air-conditioned 4×4 vehicle, specially selected for the off-road sections and desert tracks leading to Erg Chegaga.
